What to Prepare Before the Consultation

Come prepared with: clear photos of your donor area and areas of loss, a brief written summary of your hair loss history, a realistic description of your expectations, and your budget range. This helps the surgeon recommend an appropriate approach rather than designing a procedure that's outside your means.

The 15 Questions Every Patient Should Ask

  1. Who specifically will perform my procedure from start to finish?
  2. How many hair transplant procedures do you perform personally per year?
  3. Can I see your before/after portfolio including patients with my hair loss pattern?
  4. What graft count do you estimate I need and why?
  5. What technique do you recommend for my case and what are the alternatives?
  6. What will my donor area look like after the procedure with short hair?
  7. What is your policy on surgeon presence throughout the procedure?
  8. What happens if my intra-operative assessment requires more grafts than quoted?
  9. What does your package include and exclude explicitly?
  10. What aftercare support do you provide after I return home?
  11. What is your policy if I am not satisfied with the result?
  12. What maintenance therapy do you recommend alongside the procedure?
  13. What results can I realistically expect given my specific situation?
  14. Are there any reasons I should not have this procedure?
  15. What would you do if this were your own hair loss?

Red Flags During the Consultation

Walk away from any consultation where: the surgeon cannot name specific numbers, the consultation is performed entirely by a coordinator, you are not told about risks or limitations, high-pressure urgency is created around booking or pricing, or the before/after portfolio does not include patients similar to you. Cross-check anything that feels off against the full list of clinic red flags to watch for before you commit.

Virtual Consultations with Turkish Clinics

Most Istanbul clinics offer video consultations for international patients, often free. To get maximum value: prepare and submit photos before the call, insist on speaking with the surgeon, use the 15 questions above, and request a written treatment plan afterward. Compare written plans from at least 3 clinics before making any decision.
